ONE CHAMBRAY, THREE WAYS

My passion in life is bring back the dignity of women in today’s society by emphasizing their self-worth, beauty, and purity. Today I am going to be touching on beauty. As women, we all long to be beautiful, but we must realize that beauty and modesty go hand in hand. I cringe every time I am out and about in San Diego, and see women wearing something way too low, or way too short. People’s attention is automatically drawn directly to that body part on display. Instead of seeing all of you, they see a body part. What a waste of the beauty God created in you.

When people see me, I want them to see all of me. I want them to think that I am beautiful, not “sexy” or “hot.” It doesn’t take a lot of effort to be “sexy” or “hot.” Anyone can dress scantily clad and get some attention, but what is that attention worth if it is not immediately followed by respect. If we as woman desire to have dignity, we must dress in a dignified way. It is a myth that modest dress cannot be fashionable. Trust me I LOVE fashion, and it is very possible to dress in-style, but modest at the same time.

A trend that has been around for a while is the Chambray shirts. I love them! You can dress them up or make them causal. Plus they are modest! Here are 3 different looks with the Chambray shirt that are dressing with the trends without compromising your dignity.

"When a woman veils her body with modest clothing, she is not hiding herself from men. On the contrary, she is revealing her dignity to them."

YOU ARE MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN YOU THINK

This video was trending all over Facebook, and I feel like I need to share it. In fact, I wish I could sit every woman down, and make her watch it. It is a short video that does a social experiment on womens' perspectives of their own beauty. A statistic shared in the film, that deeply saddened me, was that only 4% of women around the world considered themselves to be beautiful. 4%!!

As someone who speaks to woman about their dignity and worth, the 4% breaks my heart, but does not surprise me. We live in a culture that is constantly telling us we are not good enough. We need to do this or buy that, if we want to be up to par with what the media is portraying as “beautiful.” I think this affects everyone to some degree, but these pressures especially hit women hard. Society has created this unrealistic reality of what they declare “beautiful” is. There is no message in the media telling women to embrace who they are, and that they fill a place in this world no one else can. Women today, more than ever before, feel very insecure, and doubt the beauty they each bear.

PLEASE watch this very insightful and inspiring short video, and do me a favor, pass it on to as many other woman as you can.

You are beautiful because you were MADE IN HIS IMAGE. Period. End of the story.
Now, it is up to YOU to start believing it!

YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!

A BEAUTY TO BE UNVEILED

Greetings everyone! I am Megan, and I was born and raised in Orange County, CA. In June of 2012 I got to marry the most wonderful man I know, and moved to San Diego, CA.

I am a cradle Catholic. Throughout my childhood and early teen years the extent of my faith was going to church on Sundays and praying before meals. I only turned to God when I wanted something. This became a problem as I entered into middle school and high school. I got very caught up in worldly things that I lost sight who I really was.

I was very fortunate though to be a part of an incredible youth ministry program. My youth minister had a gift in loving people and seeing others the way Christ does. She saw beyond my sins, she saw beyond my mistakes, she saw my heart and went with that. Through her love I felt the love of God for the first time in my life, and realized God could use me. The more I said "Yes" to God and let go of secular things, I found myself doing the impossible.

One thing in particular was public speaking. I begin speaking to the teens at my parish and then throughout the Diocese. I became very passionate about the topic of chastity and the dignity of women. It amazes me how many women do NOT know their worth.

This blog is to inspire and encourage women of all ages to know who God truly made women to be. We are GOOD enough. Not only are we good enough, but the beauty that we each bear is a true and perfect creation of God. You are A BEAUTY TO BE UNVEILED :)
